Background: Leftwich Consulting Engineers, Inc. (LCE) was formed in 1986 to provide adequate, accurate, and timely modeling techniques utilizing the microcomputer for Regional Updates, Development of Regional Impacts (DRIs), Corridor Studies, Traffic Impact Studies, Comprehensive Plans and City, County, and other regional analyses. Since that time, LCE has been very successful in all areas of transportation planning and traffic engineering.

Transportation Studies accomplished by LCE have analyzed some, if not all, of the various areas of transportation analyses which include mapping, data compilation and development, public meetings, workshop implementation studies, and capital improvements. Additional capabilities include Multi-Modal Analysis, Transit Analysis, Toll Analysis, HOV Analysis, ISTEA/TEA-21 Requirements, Traffic Operations & Design, Implementation Studies, Parking Studies, Signal Design & Systems, Design Traffic and Expert Witness.

Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering: LCE staff provides, both the public and private sector, transportation planning and traffic engineering consulting services throughout the State of Florida. Current contracts as prime consultants to the Florida Department of Transportation include District One General Planning Consultant, District Five Model Support Consultant, and District Six Systems Planning Consultants. In addition, LCE has other on-going sub-consultant contracts with Districts One, Two, Five, and Seven. Other public clients include the Volusia County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Palm Beach County (MPO), METROPLAN ORLANDO, and the Miami-Dade County MPO. For the private sector, current clients include Universal Studios, The Ginn Company, and Noble-Kidd.

Overview: LCE has the personnel, equipment, and software needed to produce quality transportation analyses. LCE has worked in each Florida Department of Transportation District (FDOT) and has completed numerous projects for private clients. LCE has state-of-the-art computer systems including Pentium 4-based 1.8GHz computers operating under the WINDOWS platform. The most advanced hardware available today, is utilized for the fastest, most reliable results possible. In terms of software, LCE has licenses of Paramics, FSUTMS/TRANPLAN, VIPER, MINUTP, CORSIM, ITRAF, SYNCHRO, HCS, and many other transportation planning and traffic engineering software packages.
