Synopsis:
D.
Scot Leftwich, President and co-founder of Leftwich Consulting Engineers,
Inc. has over 35 years of traffic and transportation engineering experience,
including planning, design, and construction. This experience includes
the publication of over 25 documents, presentation of workshops, research
projects, and traffic, transportation and construction related courses
at a local university. While working for the North Carolina Department
of Transportation in Raleigh (1974 to 1982), he prepared thoroughfare
plans for numerous urban areas. These plans consisted of detailed modeling
of existing and future traffic, including alternative routes of proposed
arterials, collectors, and expressways. Analysis also included implementation
studies and financial analyses.
Dr.
Leftwich has been responsible for over 950 projects and attended over
2000 transportation related meetings since 1986. Validation/Calibration
of macro, micro, truck, and transit transportation models is his expertise.
He has calibrated over 30 macro models in Florida, North Carolina, and
Alabama. Some of the models calibrated include District 1 and District
5, OUATS, Lake, Volusia, Monroe, and Flagler Counties, and the Cities
of Winter Haven, Sanford, St. Cloud, and Daytona Beach as well as a
six-county model in West Florida. Recent efforts include a micro-simulation
for model for the Miami Downtown Transportation Master Plan (MDTMP)
using PARAMICS. This model was developed by Leftwich Consulting Engineers,
Inc. under the direction of Dr. Leftwich and is the largest PARAMICS
micro-simulation model in the world. Current projects include The Fountains
DRI in Lee County, the Vavrus DRI in Palm Beach County, and a Long Range
Transportation Plan for east Osceola County. Dr. Leftwich has worked
on over 100 DRI’s and is presently working on 20 plus DRI’s
in the State of Florida.
